Housewares + Decor

Housewares and decor items are primarily made from reclaimed or scrap wood and found objects. A wide selection of items available including: vases, paperweights, clocks, candleholders, bowls, shelves and hooks, coasters, serving boards and bowls. They tend to have one or more of the following features:

• one piece simplicity​

• no assembly required

• a mix of materials (wood, metal, glass, etc)

​• most materials are reclaimed or upcycled

• versatile (can be used in two different ways)

• aesthetically pleasing and one-of-a-kind

 

Custom orders can be made for any item.

Mapple

Materials: apple wood, maple, hand crafted metal leaf tail, scrap leather

​

This display shelf is made from salvaged apple wood branch, maple stump sliced into cross sections, handmade metal leaf tail, and scrap leather. Maple shelves were hand cut, sanded and finished with resin. Apple wood branch was also hand cut to fit the two lower shelves. Resin fills the crack in the top shelf and a scrap leather pianted gold covers the crack on the bottom shelf. A metal leaf tail has been added to provide stability. Serves as a great statement piece. Suitable for displaying small items such as jewellery, treats such as cupcakes, or even small potted plants. Very suitable for commercial use.

Manitoba Board

Made: 2013

Materials: Manitoba maple


​This serving board is made from a salvaged Manitoba maple log that was cut into boards. The wood has been sanded and protected with a food safe finish. The serving board features a handle at one end, live edge bottom, and bark detail at other end. Perfect for serving cheese, charcuterie and even sushi! Suitable for home or commercial use.​

Shoe Hooks

Made: 2013

Materials: vintage shoe stretchers

This pair of size 8 vintage shoe stretchers have been shaped to form hooks at the heels and refinished with antique danish oil. Mounted vertically on a wall, they are both functional and decorative. Take them off the wall and they still function as shoe stretchers.

Chip 'n' Dip

Made: 2012

Materials: reclaimed cedar

​

This serving platter bowl is hand carved from reclaimed cedar and features bark detail on the bottom. It has been protected with a food safe finish and features three compartments: a large one and two smaller side ones. Perfect for chips and dip or veggies and dip. Also serves as an excellent decorative piece.

Coasters

Made: ongoing

Materials: scrap wood from other projects

​

These coasters are made from scrap wood from other projects and those found at the workshop. Coasters come in a variety of styles and designs. They are simple, light weight and decorative.

Birch Delight

Made: 2012

Materials: salvaged birch branch, maple

​

This set of birch branch tealight candle holders are made from a birch branch and scrap maple. Birch branch has been sanded and finished with varnish and beeswax. Maple feet have been ebonized and varnished. Holds 6 tealight candles each. Suitable as a centre or mantle piece.

Lavender Fox

Made: 2012

Materials: salvaged wood, fox fur

This lavender holder is made from a piece of wood salvaged from the workshop and a scrap piece of fox fur. Wood has been smoothed and finished with varnish. A crevice down the middle of the piece allows dried flowers to be wedged in and fanned out for display. Serves as a statement piece for any table top.

Floating Wine Racks

Materials: scrap wood

Floating wine racks are made from scrap wood and features a popular yet simple design. This batch in particular is made from scrap apple wood and has beautiful grain details and a rustic yet modern look and feel. Wine racks accommodate 750 mL bottles, allowing them to float by using the laws of physics to balance. A great and simple way to display wine. Serves as an excellent conversation piece.

Sculptural Decor

Made: 2011-2012

Materials: various

Sculptural decor pieces are primarily made from salvaged bark, scrap wood, and found materials. They are either wall decor or can be placed on a table top.

​

Currently featuring:

Bark Wing A unique piece made from a piece of bark from the Success Stump and a vintage metal brooch. It is hung with jute.

Wooden Lovers Two pieces of scrap maple cross sections from the Mapple Shelf form the shapes of side profiles. The wooden lovers are small enough to decorate any wall space.

Turtle this turtle is made from a combination of three pieces of scrap wood. Fits on any table top or ledge.

Love Hurts

Made: 2012

Materials: wood frame, wood chips, resin

Love Hurts is a decorative wall piece made from an old wooden frame and wood chips from Chip 'n' Dip Boat. Wood chips have been resined halfway, creating a very tactile piece (wood chips are fragile and sharp to the touch).

Metal Birch

Materials: salvaged birch, mahogany, hand crafted metal branches

​

This birch branch sculptural hat rack is made from a birch branch found in a Montreal alley, handmade metal branches, and a scrap block of mahogany as a base. Birch branch and mahogany has been finished with danish oil. Suitable for hanging hats and accessories or simply as a decorative sculptural piece.

Guitar Hooks

Materials: found guitar neck

​

Guitar hooks takes a found guitar neck and repurposes the tuners by reattaching them to the front of the neck so they serve as hooks. Has been sanded and refinished with antique Danish oil. Easy to mount and a great statement piece.

Cutting Boards

Made: ongoing

Materials: scrap and exotic woods


Cutting boards are made from scrap and exotic woods, in either side or end grain pattern. Cutting boards are coated in a food safe finish and are both functional and decorative. Designs and types of wood used depends on material available.

Barn Board Frame 

Made: 2013

Materials: Barn board, glass, hardboard


​This barn board frame is made from reclaimed red pine boards salvaged from an old barn. Frame has been left with a mostly natural aged finish, and maintains original textures and markings. Glass has been set in to create a shadow box feel. This frame is rugged and rustic; a one of a kind, unique addition to any home decor. Frame can be customized to fit your print of choice.

Geometric Candle Holder/Bud Vase

Materials: Hard maple, glass test tube

These geometric candle holder/bud vase can hold both tealights and candle sticks, or turned into a bud vase by inserting a test tube into the smaller hole. Modern, minimalist and multifunctional, makes the perfect housewarming gift for any home!
